China Matters held its Seventh National Meeting in Sydney on 7 June 2018 in partnership with Opera Australia. Senior business executives and government officials discussed ways for Australia to respond to a more assertive People’s Republic of China (PRC). Each session ended with one or two policy recommendations for the Australian government.

The three panel sessions focused on:

  • What should Australia’s new China narrative be?
  • Debate: Can Australia counter PRC economic retaliation?
  • How do we ensure collaboration with PRC tech and innovation is to our advantage?

The Honourable Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Defence Industry, delivered the welcoming dinner’s keynote address. The dinner was hosted by China Matters Founding Director & CEO, Ms Linda Jakobson.
