China Matters–UTS:ACRI Fellowship 2026

The China Matters–UTS:ACRI Fellowship is an important initiative designed to support the next generation of Australian China experts. When the institute formally Board ensured that the legacy of China Matters would live on. To achieve this the China Matters–UTS:ACRI Fellowship was launched in partnership with the Australia–China Relations Institute (ACRI) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

  5. Committed to producing evidence-based policy-relevant research on the PRC
  6. Willing to do fieldwork in the PRC ideally at least two months
  7. Willingness to spend some time in Sydney at UTS:ACRI to discuss research and present findings
  8. Able to attend an interview (in person or online) as part of the selection process
  9. Mandarin language proficiency is not required but is considered desirable

Value and Duration

  • Up to AUD 40,000 for a one year fellowship
  • Includes opportunities for fieldwork in the PRC and collaboration at UTS:ACRI in Sydney
